Each season we aim to learn a new poem and keep these in our poetry journal. We may explore the poem through art, nature and reciting throughout the season. Building on the success of the Acorn Fairy from the Autumn we introduced a Springtime Daffodil Fairy to explore the poem “Daffodowndilly” by A A Milne, taken from “When We Were Very Young” (ISBN 0-416-15262-7).
The Botanic Gardens in Cambridge have a beautiful array of daffodils and it is here we went searching for the fairies.
We found them nesteled in a patch of flowers along with the poem.
We then took the fairies around the garden. Each time we came to a new patch of flowers we recited the poem.
It didn’t take long before we had learnt the poem by heart!
