On a recent visit to the Botanic Gardens we had the opportunity to make some koala pictures using fallen bark and leaves from the eucalyptus trees growing there.
(They are a bit crumpled having travelled home in S’s backpack whilst cycling!)
Often our artwork is inspired by a book. But this time the pictures came first. I didn’t think we had any koala stories at home so we had a quick look in the Botanic Garden’s shop and found “The Koala Who Could” by Rachel Bright (ISBN 978-1408331644). It is a lovely story about a Koala who faces an uninvited change to realise new and wonderful things.
Then we remembered we had some photos from when M and I visited Australia, nine years ago. In fact we had bought a small koala finger puppet too which can be seen in some of the photos.
Sunday evening we cuddled up and read “The Koala Who Could ” again and again!
What koala stories do you know?
