Following on from our Colour Hunt we shared the book “The Artist Who Painted the Blue Horse” by Eric Carle (ISBN 978-0141348131) in the gallery.
The book celebrates and encourages the imagination within us all as artists, beginning “I am an artist and I paint…”. At the end of the book there is also a description of the work of Franz Marc who often used blue horses in his work.
After sharing the story we had a go at finding examples of colour in the gallery using our luggage tag prompts.
We had a go at creating our own colour pictures. The boys are much freer with their use of colour than I am as we discovered on our trip to The National Portrait Gallery in September when S created a portrait in green.
Today our masterpieces where as follows.
S spent a long time over his painting – so much so the museum was near closing! He intricately followed all the features of the horse, but in pink.
