We have been doing lots of bicycle rides since the Springtime. I was lucky enough to get a beautiful secondhand bicyle with an enormous basket, just right for loading with fun things for a day out. We do most of our cycling in Cambridge, which is full of bikes, many with baskets. I decided to make some Autumn bunting to fix to my basket to help me identify it in the masses!
I used less than a fat quarter of Autumn inspired fabric. I roughly measured the basket and worked out I needed 9 flags with a top width of about 10cm.
I made a cardboard stencil and drew the flags out on the fabric, ready to be cut out.
With the fabric reverse sides together I sewed along the edges, leaving a small gap along one side with which to turn each triangle.
I used the end of a paint brush to press the corners of the triangle to a point.
I then pinned them onto a ribbon and sewed across the top.
All fixed on my basket and ready to go!
